Pet Boarding Services

By

We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to Town & Country’s boarding facility. Our entire team is confident that your pet will find our accommodations safe and comfortable. As pet owners ourselves, we know and understand the importance of your special family member.

Leaving your pet while you are away can add unnecessary anxiety to both you and your pet.   At Town & Country Boarding, we offer a convenient solution by providing boarding for both cats and dogs.  Comfortably housed in our separate boarding facility, each pet is given plenty of individual attention to help pass the days quickly.  Our facilities include inside, air-conditioned and heated spaces as well as outside yards for daily exercise.

Boarding reservations should be made well in advance to ensure a spot for your pet. At check-in a team member will ask for an emergency contact person, your pet’s feeding instructions, health concerns, medication instructions and any other special requirements you or your pet may have. This ensures the proper care of your pet during his or her visit. You may make reservations requests by emailing boarding@tcah.vet or calling us at (830) 367-5316.

You are welcome to bring your pet’s food if he or she requires a special diet. We ask that you bring only enough food to last the length of your pet’s stay and that you label the food with your name and your pet’s name.  If your pet will require any medication while boarding please be sure to bring it in the original container.  Please be aware that your pet will be required to be current on all of their vaccinations.

Microchip Pet Identification

By

Imagine if your dog or cat got lost. You’d want to give him or her the best chance of getting home. With microchipping, you can.

Microchipping is a safe, permanent way to identify your pet in case he or she becomes lost. A microchip, which is a tiny device about the size and shape of a grain of rice, is placed just under the loose skin at the back of the neck. When a lost dog or cat without an ID tag is found, a veterinarian or veterinary technician will use a handheld microchip scanner to check for a chip. If the pet has one, it will transmit its ID number to the scanner via a low-frequency radio wave. The veterinary hospital or shelter then calls the chip manufacturer, retrieves the pet owner’s contact information, and calls the owner.

Even the most responsible pet owners can’t always guarantee their pet won’t get lost. A leash could break or slip out of your hand, a pet could push through a screen door or window, or a contractor or friend might accidentally leave a door or gate open.

We recommend that you use a microchip, along with a collar and ID tag, to identify your pet. An ID tag is still a reliable identification method. Pets that have tags with current contact information are more likely to not end up in shelters and tend to get home faster than those without tags. However, collars and ID tags aren’t permanent and can be removed (overnight or for grooming); pets can also lose them. With a microchip, your pet will have a much better chance of being identified and returned to you. Pets without microchips that end up in shelters may be adopted out to another family or even euthanized.

Please contact us to schedule an appointment to microchip your pet. Although we hope your pet never becomes lost, we want you to be prepared. We can also suggest a plan to have in place so if your pet does go missing, you’ll be able to act quickly.

We can microchip ferrets, rabbits, birds, and other companion animals, too!

CANINE REQUIREMENTS:

Dogs must be current on their Rabies, DHPP, 6-month Bordetella (kennel cough), and annual fecal exam to stay in our facility. (No Exceptions). If they do not have these vaccinations and current fecal exam, we are able to give them here.

The 6-month Bordetella (Kennel Cough) booster is most effective when given one to two weeks prior to boarding. There is a possibility that dogs vaccinated for Bordetella at time of drop off may acquire Kennel Cough while boarding because the vaccine has not had time to boost the pet’s immunity.

Cats must be current on their Rabies, Feline Leukemia and FVRCCP Booster to stay in our facility. (No Exceptions) If they do not have these vaccinations we are able to give them here.
